Hi, I'm Hanan — the founder and editor behind Salt & Hearth.

Salt & Hearth started with a simple frustration: I'd save a recipe video, and when it was finally time to cook, half the details weren't there. No exact measurements, no times, no temperatures — just a fast-moving clip and a lot of guessing in the kitchen.

So I built a place where the recipe is written out properly. Every one here is standardised into the same shape: full ingredient lists in cups and grams, ingredients grouped by the stage they're used in, and steps that tell you why something matters, not just what to do. If a dough needs to feel tacky rather than smooth, it says so.

I'm not a trained chef and I don't pretend the recipes here were developed in a test kitchen — they're classic and popular dishes, adapted and written out clearly. You can read exactly how the site is made, including where AI is used, on the disclosure page.
